Situations›Dealing with police, courts or corrections
Support through court, custody and what comes after.
For adults dealing with police, courts or corrections, and for the court programs, liaison officers, legal services and families supporting them. We plan before court or release, so the person isn't left to manage it alone.
How we approach it
We support the person, whatever is going on around them. We start planning before court or release, so the days that follow already have something in them.

Police, courts and corrections
Before court, in custody, at release and after
On a community orderGetting to appointments, keeping a routine, and keeping the support steady.
Getting started
How it starts
You don't need everything sorted. Send what you have.
Call us, or ask someone to call
A lawyer, court program worker, liaison officer, case manager or family member can call. Tell us the court or release date if there is one.
We plan together
We talk with the person and the people supporting them about what needs to be in place, and agree the first few things to do.
Support starts
You'll have a main contact from the first meeting. If something changes, you call them directly.
Questions
Things people ask us
Do you work with people in custody?
Yes. We can start planning before release so supports are ready on the day. Call us, or ask a case manager or liaison officer to call us.
Who can refer?
Court programs, corrections, liaison officers, legal services, support coordinators and families can all refer. Send what you have and flag the gaps.
Can my worker come to court with me?
Yes. Having someone with you who knows you is part of the job.
What if I don't have an NDIS plan?
To start funded supports, you need a plan or to be eligible for one. We'll talk you through what the NDIS looks for, and tell you if a Local Area Coordinator is the better first call.
