What we understand about it

A brain injury changes things that used to be automatic: memory, planning, energy, mood, how fast you can take things in. Often the person looks the same as before, so the people around them expect the same as before.

The injury is only part of it. What it interrupted, and what has changed since, matter just as much: work, a licence, a relationship, a home.

We work with the person you are now: slower where that helps, written down where memory needs backing up, one step at a time.

Acquired brain injury

How we support

Support coordination

Getting rehab, allied health, your GP and the NDIS working from the same page, and helping the plan fund what helps with memory, fatigue and getting around.

Support work

Routines that hold, prompts and reminders, and help at home and getting around at a pace that suits you.

The things around it

Centrelink, housing, a licence, and the court or police matters that can follow a brain injury nobody diagnosed.

Questions

Things people ask us

I have trouble remembering things. How will this work?

Everything we agree is written down and left with you. Workers follow the routines we agree with you, and we set up whatever reminders suit you.

I get tired quickly. Can shifts be short?

Often, yes. Shorter shifts more often is something we can look at rostering. We plan the week around your energy.

Can you help with a compensation or TAC claim?

We don't handle compensation or TAC claims, so for that you'd need a lawyer or the TAC. We can keep supporting you day to day while you sort it out.

My behaviour changed after the injury. Will workers understand that?

We match workers on experience and approach where we can, and we plan for the hard moments before they happen.
